# שולי נתן שולי נתן היא זמרת, גיטריסטית ומלחינה ישראלית. היא נודעת בעיקר בביצוע השיר "ירושלים של זהב" של נעמי שמר, שהפך לאחד הפזמונים הישראלים המוכרים ביותר. הביצוע שלה בפסטיבל הזמר בשנת 1967 הניע אותה לדרך של קריירה מוזיקלית עשירה המשתרעת על פני עשרות שנים. ## ביוגרפיה שולי נתן נולדה ב-16 במרץ 1947 בלונדון בשם מרים שולמית בורנפרוינד. היא בתה של חוה נתן (בתו של אברהם נתן, הטנור הראשי באופרה של המבורג) ויהושע בורנפרוינד. עלתה לישראל בגיל צעיר והתגוררה בווילהלמה ובשכונת רמת חן ברמת גן. בוגרת תיכון בליך, התגייסה לצה"ל בשנת 1965 ושירתה כמורה חיילת בחבל לכיש. במהלך שירותה הצבאי למדה גיטרה. כשפתחה בקריירה מוזיקלית אימצה את השם נתן, שם נעוריה של אמה, וקיצרה את שמה הפרטי לשולי. ## קריירה הופעתה הפומבית הראשונה הייתה בתוכנית הרדיו "תשואות ראשונות" בשנת 1967. בעקבות הצלחת "ירושלים של זהב" בפסטיבל הזמר באותה שנה, שרה נתן רפרטואר רחב הכולל שירי משוררים ושירים מסורתיים יהודיים. הוציאה מספר אלבומים החל מסוף שנות השישים, ביניהם "שרה שירים עבריים" (1967), "שירי נעמי שמר" (1968), "מתי היום" (1969) ו"טיול" (1969). לאחר היעדרות ממושכת מהבמה, חזרה לשירה בשנת 1990 והוציאה קלטת בשם "ים של אור" עם ידידתה אביבה רוזנפלד. המשיכה להוציא אלבומים של שירים יהודיים והיטים ישראלים, ביניהם "שירי תהילה" (1995), "שירים אהובים" (1999), "הדרך פתוחה" (1999), "בעיקר קרליבך" (2003), "מזרח מקרוב ומרחוק" (2008) ו"לקט" (2011). הלחינה ושרה שירים של המשוררת זלדה, ביניהם "שושנה שחורה", "כל הלילה בכיתי" ו"אל תשליכני מלפניך". פיתחה קשר מיוחד עם הזמרת נחמה הנדל, ושתיהן הקליטו מספר אלבומים יחד והעלו הופעות משותפות. בשנת 2007 שיחקה בסרט הסטודנטים "הרת עולם" בבימוי איילה זמיר. בשנת 2010 החלה לעבוד עם חבורת הזמר "בנות מסילות" וחידשה איתן את השירים "אנא בכח" ו"הליכה לקיסריה". ## הישגים השיר "ירושלים של זהב" שביצעה נתן בפסטיבל הזמר בשנת 1967 הפך לאחד הפזמונים הישראלים המוכרים ביותר. השיר קיבל משמעות מחוזקת בעקבות מלחמת ששת הימים והפך למעין המנון שני ולא רשמי. אחד הרגעים המרגשים במלחמה היה כשהצנחנים שהגיעו לכותל המערבי שרו את השיר כשדמעות בעיניהם. השיר זכה בתואר "שיר היובל" וזהו השיר שנתן מזוהה ביותר עמו עד היום. בשנת 2004 הייתה מעורבת בשערורייה כשמפיק מופע הצדעה לנעמי שמר, דודו אלהרר, החליט שלא להזמינה להשתתף. לאחר תגובות רבות מהקהל והמשתתפים, התחרט אלהרר והזמינה לבצע את השיר. ## חיים אישיים נתן הייתה נשואה למתתיהו (מתיו) וייס, אותו הכירה במהלך הופעה באנגליה. לשניהם חמישה ילדים. בן זוגה הנוכחי הוא אייבי לוי, והם מתגוררים בקיבוץ בית השיטה.

# Shuli Natan Shuli Natan is an Israeli singer, guitarist, and composer. She is best known for her performance of "Jerusalem of Gold" by Naomi Shemer, which became one of the most recognizable Israeli anthems. Her performance at the Song Festival in 1967 launched her into a rich musical career spanning several decades. ## Biography Shuli Natan was born on March 16, 1947, in London under the name Miriam Shulamit Bornfreund. She is the daughter of Chava Natan (daughter of Abraham Natan, the principal tenor of the Hamburg Opera) and Joshua Bornfreund. She immigrated to Israel at a young age and lived in Wilhelma and the Ramat Chen neighborhood in Ramat Gan. A graduate of Tichon Leich high school, she was drafted into the IDF in 1965 and served as a soldier-teacher in the Lachish region. During her military service, she learned to play guitar. When she began her musical career, she adopted the surname Natan, her mother's maiden name, and shortened her first name to Shuli. ## Career Her first public performance was on the radio program "First Fruits" in 1967. Following the success of "Jerusalem of Gold" at the Song Festival that year, Natan sang a wide repertoire including songs by poets and traditional Jewish songs. She released several albums beginning in the late 1960s, including "She Sings Hebrew Songs" (1967), "Songs of Naomi Shemer" (1968), "When Is Today" (1969), and "Journey" (1969). After an extended absence from the stage, she returned to singing in 1990 and released a cassette titled "Sea of Light" with her friend Aviva Rosenfeld. She continued to release albums of Jewish songs and Israeli hits, including "Songs of Praise" (1995), "Beloved Songs" (1999), "The Road Is Open" (1999), "Mainly Carlebach" (2003), "East Near and Far" (2008), and "Collection" (2011). She composed and performed songs by poet Zelda, including "Black Rose," "I Cried All Night," and "Do Not Cast Me Away from Your Presence." She developed a special relationship with singer Naomi Hendel, and the two recorded several albums together and performed joint concerts. In 2007, she appeared in the student film "Pregnant with the World" directed by Ayla Zamir. In 2010, she began working with the singing group "Daughters of the Rails" and renewed with them the songs "Please with Strength" and "Walk to Caesarea." ## Achievements The song "Jerusalem of Gold," which Natan performed at the Song Festival in 1967, became one of the most recognizable Israeli anthems. The song gained heightened significance following the Six-Day War and became a sort of second, unofficial national anthem. One of the moving moments in the war was when paratroopers who reached the Western Wall sang the song with tears in their eyes. The song was awarded the title "Jubilee Song," and it is the song with which Natan is most identified to this day. In 2004, she was involved in a controversy when the producer of a tribute concert to Naomi Shemer, Dodo Elharar, decided not to invite her to participate. Following numerous reactions from the audience and participants, Elharar reconsidered and invited her to perform the song. ## Personal Life Natan was married to Matthew (Matityahu) Weiss, whom she met during a performance in England. They have five children together. Her current partner is Avi Levi, and they live on Kibbutz Beit HaShita.
