# Galatz Galatz is an Israeli radio station operated by IDF Radio, established in 1993. The station broadcasts primarily continuous popular music, traffic reports, and content programs. It has become the most popular radio station in Israel, particularly among younger audiences. ## Biography Galatz was founded in 1993 by Moshe Shlonsky, commander of IDF Radio at that time. The station was based on IDF Channel 2, which was established in 1987 during the tenure of Nachman Shai as station commander, by Erez Tal. The station's name is a portmanteau of the words "Galal" (related to transportation) and "Galei Tzahal" (the parent station), proposed by Marav Michaeli, the station's first director.
